CANCUN!!!! Our Resort

Since I have been back for over a week, I should probably write about my vacation......

One of the things we loved about Cancun...our resort!

The all-inclusive resort.  This place was amazing.  I loved that the food and drinks were included in the price because there was no hesitation to order LOTS of drinks at the pool bar or go to a fancy Italian restaurant for dinner - the food there at home would have been pretty pricey!!!

Everyday, we ate breakfast at a buffet.  The fresh fruit and omelets were my favorite, and the coffee was actually great!  When we went to Puerto Vallarta, the coffee was awful and that was a big let down.  They even had omelets made just from egg whites.

Lunch was one of my favorite things about the resort.  Maybe it was the incredible view of the ocean, the friendly Amigos  that worked at the bar, the convenience (Just pull yourself out of the pull, dry yourself off, and seat yourself) or the amazingly fresh food.  My favorite was the seafood salad, and the chips, guacamole, and pico....and the margaritas!

We had three great choices for dinner every night.  A fancy Italian restaurant (no kids, guys had to wear pants and collared shirts) a slightly less fancy Mexican restaurant (there was a dress code but it wasn't enforced) and a more casual Asian restaurant.  All meals were amazing, no complaints at all.  Some of my favorites were the spinach and yam gnocchi, tortilla soup, creme brule, white fish with green curry and coconut sauce, and the sushi.

There was also a coffee bar and tapas bar, which we loved to visit for appetizers before dinner, especially if we had to wait for a table.

Th e pool area was amazing, it included a swim up bar, tons of beach chairs underneath shade, two great pools, my favorite being the upper level infinity pool.  I loved looking out to the ocean from it while reading my book!

The workout room was really hot, so I didn't do as much running as I would have liked there....but the attached spa was fantastic.  We had an excellent couples massage our last day there.  They give you your own personal attendant to help you relax and prepare for your massage, haha!

The king size bed in our room felt gigantic and unnecessary....but very comfortable. The balcony view was really nice, too!

More pictures later, but here is some for now!!!

Where Have I Been? Part One, Wedding

Hi friends!

I had a very fun and eventful past two weeks....but I'm happy to be back!  We kicked off our fun-filled vacation with my friend Diane's Wedding Weekend!  Diane has been my friend since 7th grade and did track with me in junior high, highschool, and college.  She is my oldest friend!

We started of the wedding day (Saturday, July 16th) bright and early at the hair dresser's.  I wasn't a fan of my hair stylist (she pretty much told me she despised me because she had to deal with my thick hair) but I thought all of our hair turned out pretty great.  Diane picked an awesome hairstyle for us bridesmaids.  I love the side bun!

We spent 7:30 am - 1:00 Getting our hair done, getting ready at Diane's parent's house, and taking pictures.  It is a lot of work getting ready for a wedding, but I absolutely loved the dresses, shoes, earrings, bracelets, and flowers Diane picked out for us.  I loved wearing this dress!

I swear I slept over Diane's house every weekend in 7th grade.
In the limo with Beth!!

SHE IS SO PRETTY!!!  Love the hair, makeup, dress, tiara....she looked perfect!

Freshman Year Roommates!
My escort Dave, who is Diane's brother-in-law.

There she is!!  It was soo cute when Christ saw her at the alter.  They looked so happy!

We had a lot of fun at the reception - and he even matched his tie to me :)
It was a great day and it was so neat to think that I was in the wedding of someone I have been friends with since 7th grade.  This is why I love running - I met Diane during Cross-Country practice in 7th grade and have been friends ever since!

The reception was great and what was even better was that the next morning we would be flying to Mexico!!!

Goodbye for Awhile!!!

Busy week!!! Wednesday was Jordan's 25th birthday and we celebrated again at his mom's.
Two exciting things going on this weekend.....
my track team friend and freshman year roommate DIANE is getting married tomorrow!!!!!!!!!!  I am a bridesmaid (she picked the most adorable dressess and shoes!) and today's festiviities include lunch, nail appointments, and the rehersal.  Can't wait for tomorrow!
Diane is the heptathlete on the far right, at our Indoor conference championships!

Then, EARLY the next day, we are flying to Cancun, headed to this awesome all-inclusive resort!!!

ahhhhhhhhh
One thing I am very excited to do is Yoga on the Beach - Jordan said he would even do it.
Going with these guys!  Jordan's college roommate Cory and gf Kristen!
The only bad part is I will really miss my two little knuckleheads.....
Talk to you when I get back!!!

The Past Week

Since this is a supposed blog about running (when lately it seems more like a weenie and corgi blog) I'll share with you my running news first before I post doggie pictures.

I started physical therapy this week, along with doing the other knee/hip exercises the sports doctor recommended.

I ran a mile and a half Thursday and 3 miles yesterday with no knee pain!

I am pretty excited because I think my strengthening exercises have been paying off!

I also feel that I have been keeping myself in good shape - biking at least an hour every day and lifting three times a week, so I am hoping to still run the Marine Corps Marathon Oct. 30th!!!

The past week has been a busy one with the new puppy.  He is whining for a cuddle so I will post some pictures to fill you in on the last week!

The Happy Couple

It took way too many times to take a normal picture.  Haha.

Indulging in free doggie ice cream, from Dog Days 2011 at Hartwood Acres

So tired.

I ordered an egg sandwich at sheetz with hotsauce.... instead of putting it on they gave me the mini-est little bottle ever!  A highlight of my week for sure.

Puppy Boot Camp/Long, Long, Weekend

Although I have been off work, training Mister Bruno has kept me very busy the past couple days.  We are working on potty training, walking on a leash, sitting, and not biting Penny.

The doggies like to tease and chase each other, and also torment me.  This time, they decided to hang out under the bed together.

After that, I found them napping with each other sooo nicely.  It reassured me that Penny will probably not eat Bruno, no matter how many times he tries to nip her!

Lauren and Lisa came over!!!
Since this is supposed to be a running blog.....

Everyday I have been biking 45 minutes - 80 minutes.  I have been lifting 3x a week and doing my knee rehab exercises daily.  I start PT on Tuesday.  I am really hoping that after a couple sessions I am able to start building up again!

Happy Fourth of July!
